Setup email in Outlook

This article assumes that you have already setup your email account in cPanel. This article will use example usernames, passwords and the server names, they will be displayed in bold, make sure you replace them with your own variables. You should also have already determined if you would like to use POP3 or IMAP.

This article assumes you are using an existing installation and will go through the process of adding a new account. If you have a new installation you will automatically be taken to the new account screen.

This article was written for Outlook 2007, but should apply to old versions. Getting to certain areas may be slightly different.

1. Go to account settings... under tools.

2. Under the email tab, click new.

3. Check off "Manually Configure server ..." and click next. The automatic settings will not work, setting it up manually only takes a few minutes longer.

4. Select Internet Email

5. Fill out your name (this is what will be shown when you send email), email address (what you've already setup in cPanel). Pick either POP3 or IMAP. Incoming and outgoing mail servers are normally the same, mail.yourdomain.com. Your username is the full email address which you've already setup in cPanel, the password is what you've assigned to the email address in cPanel.

6. Click More Settings... Go to the outgoing server tab. Turn on outgoing mail authentication. Leave the default settings.

7. Go to the advanced tab, change the outgoing (SMTP) server from 25 to 587. Most ISP's are now blocking port 25, this is a nessesary step for most of our users.

You're finnished! You can now start using your email address. Keep in mind that Outlook is unsupported by Bamboo Cricket Hosting beyond setup. If you want to do anything specific you will need to check the manual or contact Microsoft.
