Password protect directories

You may have noticed that there are several methods used to password protect websites. Some websites have a form directly on their website, some have a browser pop-up. Using our "Password Protect Directories" function in cPanel you can create one of these browser based password pop-ups. That means you don't have to worry about security and you don't have to create a complicated script.

First you will need to select the folder you want to protect. Next you will need to check off "Password protect this directory" and give it a name, this name will show up in the browser. Click Save.

Now you can add one or multiple username/password combination.

That's it. In many cases you will want to create a login that is built right into your website, but if you need something quick and safe, this is a great option.
