Delaying Filter

Delaying filter (aka graylisting) is a powerfull new way of blocking spam. Since most of our users are unfamilier with it, it is disabled by default. However you can enable/disable it under Spam ASSP in cPanel.

With greylisting the senders email is automatically (and temporarily) rejected, under the assumption that any legitimate email server will retry the sending of the email.

Advantages

- Can effectively cut down on a large amount of spam.
- Requires no configuration, simply enable or disable.
- Lowers system usage, since most spam doesn't have to go through actual filtering, it keeps your email running fast.

Disadvantages

- Will not be able to receive email from poorly configured mail servers
- All email will be delayed to when the server retries the sending (up to 4 hours, most will retry after 15 minutes)
- Many issues can come up as a result of the delay, such as having to wait for confirmation emails, having to wait for urgent messages

If you're serious about spam protection, graylisting is a serious tool, but it's obviously not for everyone.
