Add email account, forwarder or autoresponder
Add email account, forwarder or autoresponder
Solution
Note: this article uses examples for email addresses, usernames and passwords which should be replaced with those specific to your account.
Add Email Accounts
These accounts would be
accessible
by POP3, IMAP or Webmail.
1.
Login to your
Control Panel (cPanel)
. Once you are in cPanel, click on
Email Accounts
.
2.
You are now on the Email Accounts screen the first thing you will see is a series of options for adding new accounts.
Email:
Enter the name you want to use for the email account. For example if you have bamboocrickethosting.com, and you want to use steve.smith @ bamboocrickethosting.com you would enter steve.smith in the email box.
Password:
Your password must be secure, insecure passwords lead to accounts getting into the wrong hands (IE: Spammers) which ends in account
suspensions
. Password generator is not required, but is recommended.
Quota:
This is how much disk space this particular email account is allowed to use. Do not allow quotas to exceed your disk space availability, it will result in delivery errors. If you have more than a few email accounts this is something you will want to keep an eye on.
3. Click Create
. Your account will now be listed under "Current Accounts". To obtain your email settings click on
configure email client
. You can also use this information to login to webmail. Your username is always the full email address.
4.
We have a
full set of articles
on how to setup your email account in your email client.
Add Forwarders
These forwarders allow you to forward anything @ yourdomain.com to a real email account. The real email account can either be on our server or on a 3rd party server (IE: gmail). Note: Domain forwarders are covered in
default address
.
1.
Login to your
Control Panel (cPanel)
. Once you are in cPanel, click on
Forwarders
2.
Click on
Add Forwarder
3.
In the first box, enter the address you wish to forward. In the second box, enter the address you want to forward it to. In this example we are forwarding steve @ bamboocrickethosting.com to steve.smith @ bamboocrickethosting.com.
Click create
.
Add Auto-Responders
These auto-responders will allow you to automatically send a reply message sent to a specific email account. This is especially
useful
for vacation notices, confirmation receipts, etc.
1.
Login to your
Control Panel (cPanel)
. Once you are in cPanel, click on
Auto Responders
2.
Click on
Add Auto-responder
3.
In this example, any email sent to steve.smith @ bamboocrickethosting.com gets a vacation notice with the
original
subject in the reply. Customize to your liking and then
click create
.
